The Delfin III Amazon Cruise will take you along the mighty Amazon River, to the Ucayali River, the Amazon’s largest tributary, as well as other neighboring creeks, each one rich in cultural experiences, some wildlife and thriving rainforests. Plus, you will retrace the footsteps of the Inca Culture by visiting the capital of the empire, Cuzco, the ruins of the Sacred Valley and the Incan citadel of Machu Picchu. You will arrive at sunrise – a symbolic time for the Incans – and watch dawn break over the weathered walls of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 1: LIMA
Touch down in the Peruvian capital where a private transfer will be waiting to take you to your hotel.

Day 2: LIMA - IQUITOS
Welcome to Iquitos! A private transfer will take you to the pier to board the Delfin III Amazon Cruise. Be ready to enjoy one of life's greatest adventures!

Day 3: AMAZON RAINFOREST
During high water season (Nov-May): Our skiffs skim the Samiria River and its tributaries, where an abundance of wildlife hides in the deep rainforest, such as blue and yellow macaws, scarlet macaws, toucans, umbrella birds, monkeys, and river others, capybaras and more. This is also a popular dolphin feeding spot so we won´t be the only one enjoying the plethora of fish below.
In the afternoon, you will start cruising through the Yanayacu and Pucate Rivers, peeking into different creeks and lagoons. This is one of the best preserved and protected zones of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.
During low water season (Jun-Oct): We will take you out to your first jungle walk. We take this opportunity to enjoy a small village along the rivershore and our guides will share with you some interesting legends of the Amazon.
After lunch, you will start cruising through the Yanayacu and Pucate Rivers, peeking into different creeks and lagoons. Your guide will use his expert eye to pinpoint all the biodiversity of this region. If you want to interact directly with the waters of the Amazon, go out on one of our paddle boards.

Day 4: AMAZON RAINFOREST
Today, you will keep enjoying the beautiful and wide Peruvian Amazon!
The walk at Fundo Casual jungle trail will take you deep into the rainforest on “Terra Firma” (nonflooded forest) where your guide will point out the dynamic creatures and vegetation of the Amazon. Be sure to keep an attentive eye open for spotting surprises!
Next we will visit the community of San Francisco will include a short skiff ride and jungle walk to meet local villagers who have called Amazonia their home for generations. After a delicious dinner we will visit Nauta Caño Creek. Also, go fishing for the famous piranha, a delightful and challenging experience you won’t forget! As night approaches, your guide will take you on a night safari in search of caiman alligators and night birds.

Day 5: AMAZON RAINFOREST - IQUITOS - CUZCO
On our way from Nauta back to Iquitos airport, you will visit the Rescue & Rehabilitation Center of River Mammals (ACOBIA) where you will have the chance to meet baby manatees and learn about these wonderful and docile creatures and why they are on the endangered species list. You will also have the chance to pet and feed these kind manatees.
Later, a private transfer will take you to the airport to take your flight to the city of Cuzco.
Arrive in the historic capital of the Incan Empire and catch your private transfer to your hotel.

Day 6: CUZCO
Embark on a Cuzco city tour. Take in the yawning main plaza with its colonial architecture and lofty cathedral, before seeing the Santa Domingo Convent. Then head to the outskirts of the city to explore the Incan ruins of the Sacsayhuaman Inca Fortress, Quenco and Tambomachay.
Day 7: CUZCO - SACRED VALLEY - AGUAS CALIENTES
Venture into the Sacred Valley. The hull of this valley was home to thousands of Incan people. You'll visit Awanacancha where we will see Andean camelids such as llamas and alpacas. You'll get to explore the ruins of Pisaq and have chance to browse around the animated modern market. Plus you'll visit the ancient town of Ollantaytambo.
In the afternoon, you'll take the train to Aguas Calientes – the village at the gateway to Machu Picchu.

Day 8: AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHU PICCHU - CUZCO
Wake up early to reach Machu Picchu for sunrise. On clear days you can watch the sun halo around Huayna Picchu – the mountain that stands sentry over the entire citadel – before nature turns the lights on over the rest of the site.
Once the day has dawned, take a guided tour around the ruins of Machu Picchu to see sights like the ritual baths, Palace of the Princess, and the Temple of the Sun.
Day 9: CUZCO - LIMA
Arrive in Lima and take your private transfer to Lima center.
Embark on a Lima city tour. Sights boomerang from old to new. You'll visit the main plaza, the Presidential Palace and take in the 17th century Monastery of San Francisco with its eerie catacombs.
Then, it's time to leave. A private transfer will take you to the airport.
The itineraries are subject to change due to weather conditions at certain times of the year. The water levels of the rivers also vary from time to time, as well as the hours of sailing. .
The weather in Iquitos is warm and humid and the temperature varies between 33 °C (90 °F) and 21 °C (70 °F).
- The rainy (high water) season is from November to May.
- The dry (low water) season is from June to October.
- Each season boasts dramatic difference in plants and animals.
Light and fresh pieces, blouses, long-sleeved shirts, swimwear, shoes with soft rubber sole for the boat (rubber boots and rain ponchos are provided by us), cardigan or long-sleeved shirts, wind resistant jackets. The days are hot and humid while the night breeze is fresh.
Insects & Mosquitoes
We recommend taking Vitamin B or B-15 a few days before arrival to the jungle. These vitamins are the best natural repellent against insect bites. As well, do not forget to bring conventional repellent and cream for bites.
We suggest bringing sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, binoculars (very important for enjoying the fauna and flora. Preferably 1 per person), camera, and extra batteries.
There is no WiFi Internet or phone signal coverage on our vessels.
Tips for both the crew and the guides are not included and are expected, as is customary on cruises around the world. The amounts are distributed equally between your entire vessel’s crew, and we hope their service is valuable and insightful to your experience aboard Delfin. From past experience an average of US$ 120.00 per passenger is suggested, and envelopes will be provided in your room.
