Sea lions on the Ballestas Islands – Paracas Southern Peru
The Ballestas Islands are located off the southern coast of Peru, and the islands are home to array of native flora and fauna. Both fur seals and sea lions like to lounge around the island’s craggy shores, but in this picture you’re looking at a rather big gathering of sea lions. These sea faring mammals may look cute, but don’t let their looks trick you. Males can weigh 300 kg, grow up to 2.4 m long, and are very protective of their territory and females.
