Summary:

This trek is a wonderful alternative to the often expensive and fully booked Inca Trail. This trek takes you through some stunning scenery to the lost and sacred city of the Incas Machu Picchu, Peru. The trail will take you through villages to the cloud forest and past the mighty Urabamba river, setting up camp along the way to rest. You final evening will be at a comfortable hotel in Aguas Calientes before your final day and your visit to Machu Picchu, the highlight of every travellers journey to Peru.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Cuzco- Mollepata- Soraypampa

Collection from your hotel and transfer to Mollepata (3 Hours).
Trek from Mollepata to Soraypamapa via Cruzpata (7 Hours).
Set up camp and overnight in Soraypampa.

Day 2: Soraypampa- Challway

Trek from Soraypampa to Challway via Huayracpampa.
Set up camp and overnight in Challway.

Day 3: Challway- Playa - Santa Teresa

Trek from Challway to Santa Teresa via Playa.
Visit the hot springs in Playa.
Set up camp and overnight in Santa Teresa.

Day 4: Santa Teresa- La Oroya- Hydroelectric Plant- Aguas Calientes

Trek from Santa Teresa to Aguas Calientes via La Oroya and the hydro electric plant.
Cross the Urubamba River in a cable basket.
Hike or take the train for the last leg of the journey to the village of Aguas Calientes.
Overnight in your comfortable hotel in Aguas Calintes.

Day 5: Aguas Calientes- Machu Picchu- Cuzco

A very early start around 4AM to take the 90 min walk to Machu Picchu.
Guided tour of Machu Picchu (2 Hours).
Free time to walk to the Sun Gate "Inti Punko" or climb to Wayna Picchu.
Return to Cuzco on the train.
