Arequipa
Arequipa is located 1,024 km south of Lima, at 2380 (7740 feet) m.a.s.l. and it has the nicest weather of the country. It seats at the foot of the Misti, a volcano that dominates the city, and it gets its nick name “the White City” because is built out of sillar, the white volcanic stone.
Cusco
Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire, is considered the archaeological capital of South America. It was the capital of the Inca Empire from its beginning in the 14th century until the Spanish conquest in 1533. In the city of Cusco, as in no other place, the mixture of Spanish and Inca cultures can be appreciated specially in the fusion of Inca ruins with Spanish architecture.
Ica
Located 303 km. south of Lima, Ica is made up most wide desert plains that stretch from the sea to the Andes, interspersed with dunes and huarango forests. However, Ica has fertile valleys that are planted with cotton, grapevines, and different varieties of fruit. The region is also blessed with natural resources and archeological remains, including the world-famous Nazca Lines.
Lima
Lima is the capital and largest city of Peru. It ‘s located in the valleys of the Chillón, Rímac and Lurín rivers, on a coast overlooking the Pacific Ocean on the west central coast of South America. It forms a contiguous urban area with the seaport of Callao.
Loreto
Iquitos is located on the banks of the headwaters of the Amazon River, the longest and widest river in the world. It is the most important city in the Peruvian Amazon jungle and a good point for discovering the fascinating diversity of jungle flora and fauna, as well as the mysterious beauty of rainforest. One of Iquitos main attractions is the hanging bridges found in areas surrounding some of the lodges.
Puerto Maldonado
Puerto Maldonado, capital of the department of Madre de Dios, is one of the most important cities of the southern jungle of Peru. It seats on the banks of the Madre de Dios River, which connects with Rivera Alto in Bolivia and Assis in Brazil. Virgin forests cover 98% of its territory. For adventure lovers, Puerto Maldonado is a virgin and frontier land full of mysteries.
Puno
Puno is situated on the banks of Lake Titicaca – the world highest navigable lake - at an altitude of 3,827 meters (12,628 feet) and it is considered the capital of Peru’s altiplano (high plains).
